Produce Junction Begins Construction in Voorhees

Construction is underway on a new Produce Junction location in Voorhees Township, bringing fresh retail activity to an established commercial corridor. The produce retailer will occupy a former appliance store along South Burnt Mill Road.

The property sits near Somerdale Road and Voorhees Town Center, close to the shopping center’s Boscov’s location. The redevelopment will introduce a new use to a building with a long history of retail occupancy.

Previously, the property housed several recognizable businesses, including Thriftway Grocery, Shop ‘n Mark, and Sears Appliance Outlet. Most recently, American Freight Appliance occupied the single-tenant building.

Now, Produce Junction plans to transform the space into a destination for fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, and plants. Construction activity marks another step toward bringing the property back into active retail use.

Notably, the building sits directly beside Sweet Eats Bakery, an established Voorhees business. The bakery recently expanded its retail space and parking facilities to accommodate customers.

The neighboring businesses could create complementary shopping opportunities for area residents. Additionally, the new Produce Junction location will introduce another fresh-food retailer to the surrounding commercial area.

The project highlights the continued repositioning of existing retail properties throughout South Jersey. Former appliance stores and other large-format retail spaces can offer opportunities for businesses seeking established commercial locations.

Furthermore, reusing existing buildings can help property owners attract new tenants without requiring entirely new retail developments. These projects can also support activity along established shopping corridors.

The South Burnt Mill Road location benefits from its proximity to Voorhees Town Center and surrounding retail destinations. Its position near Somerdale Road provides connections to nearby residential neighborhoods and commercial properties.

For Camden County’s commercial real estate market, the Produce Junction project represents another example of retail space adaptation. The redevelopment introduces a new tenant while maintaining the property’s longstanding commercial use.

Although an official opening date has not been announced, construction is now progressing at the site. The new Produce Junction will add another shopping option to the Voorhees retail landscape.
