Thrift store shoppers and donors in Camden County will soon have a new option, as Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey & Philadelphia prepares to open a new retail store and donation center on Thursday, May 22, at 9 a.m.

The new location, housed in a renovated former Rite Aid pharmacy at 111 Route 73, was approved by township officials last August.

According to spokeswoman Juli Lundberg, while Goodwill already operates a donation center at 476 Centennial Blvd. in Voorhees, this will be the nonprofit’s first retail store in the community. The organization is also introducing innovative features to the region, including “mobile donations” and a “donation tracker” system.

Mobile donations allow donors to remain in their vehicles while a Goodwill associate collects the items and records the donation on a tablet. A receipt is then emailed directly to the donor. To support this service, the new store includes a drive-thru donation lane behind the building.
